Background

ekeia 

Ekeia Studio is an interdisciplinary production and design firm founded by Katrina Chan and Xinyu Xu. The name ekeia is derived from the Greek jar ηχεία used to amplify sounds in amphitheaters and cathedrals. Together, they use design and performance to amplify stories across media, reimagining how immersion and performance can change experiential narratives.

Katrina Chan a is designer, director, writer, and performer based in Cambridge, MA. She has a background in Architecture and Comparative Media Studies from MIT and is currently pursuing her Masters of Design at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Katrina is passionate about creating narratives and telling stories that frame the human experience in ways that examine the unexamined through integrated and immersive storytelling, using her diverse background to make every production an interdisciplinary practice…

xinyu xu

Xinyu Xu is a designer, director, and multimedia specialist based in Cambridge, MA. She holds a Theatre Arts degree from MIT and is experienced in technical production with a focus on lighting design and visual immersion. She is interested in designing innovative systems that emphasize expression and create experiences that invite audiences on emotional journeys, building new worlds for them to explore live and continue contemplating even after house lights come up…
